Help us Get the Word Out!

Congress has passed the stimulus bill with funding for transportation infrastructure projects, but much is left to be done.  With the reauthorization of the surface transportation bill steadily approaching, it’s vitally important ATM members highlight the valuable benefits these funds are creating.  We ask all of you to work with your state departments of transportation,  MPOs, and transit agencies to bring attention to these projects as they break ground.  Demonstrating the value of these projects to your communities, local media, and members of Congress will keep this issue at the top of the national agenda.  We are asking all our members to take action in the coming months by writing your member of Congress, sending a letter to the editor of your local paper or hosting a press conference at a project site.

The United States needs a transportation system that moves people and delivers goods in a timely—and safe—manner. We must connect workers with employers, employers with suppliers, and businesses with their customers.

Our legislators need to know the depth and breadth of this transportation problem and that there is a groundswell of concern that the U.S. economy, our safety, our environment and our way of life all hang in the balance.
