Equipment Manufacturers Govt Affairs Pro Brings Infrastructure Message to Radio
Kip Eideberg, VP of Public Affairs & Advocacy for the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), recently spoke with Karl Magenhofer of WSVA Radio — which reaches the Central Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia — about the importance of the nation’s transportation system and the vital need to invest now in America’s infrastructure.
He noted that infrastructure is a bipartisan issue and should be a priority because all Americans and American businesses rely on it.
“We’ve let our infrastructure crumble,” says Eideberg. “This is not just something that happened one day. … It’s because we have not tended to it and it’s been chronically underfunded and there hasn’t been enough political will in Washington to do something about it.”
President Trump, who partially campaigned on improving investment in America’s strained infrastructure, has been in office for one year and 239 days. The 115th Congress has taken on issues such as tax reform, the opioid epidemic, veterans’ matters, defense spending and funding the government, but has not been able to pass a promised new infrastructure bill.
AEM is the North American-based international trade group representing off-road equipment manufacturers and suppliers, with more than 950 companies and more than 200 product lines in the agriculture and construction-related industry sectors worldwide. The equipment manufacturing industry in the United States supports 1.3 million jobs and contributes roughly $159 billion to the economy every year.
AEM is a member of ATM.
